Duisburg, 11 March 2009. Two hands holding a towel roll – this simple yet meaningful motif secured the first place prize for Janusz Wróbel from Warsaw, Poland, in the CWS Online Creative Competition “Create your Paradise“. CWS-boco International GmbH, specialised in washroom hygiene solutions and professional workwear, looked for the most original front cover for their towel dispensers. Janusz Wróbel’s contribution convinced the jury of experts, winning against 584 other participants from 10 countries. Second place was awarded to Moritz Röder from Munich, Germany. His image illustrated the technical interior of a CWS towel dispenser. Third place went to Riccardo Soloperto from Milan, Italy, whose motif titled “Now you can“ shows a handshake between two freshly washed and dried hands. The audience award, determined by online voting, was presented to Giorgio Bruno from Cava de' Tirreni, Italy, for his image titled “Paradiso Celeste“. A total of 260.309 votes were cast during the online voting.

“The winning motif with the two hands holding a towel roll shows the main aspect of the cotton towel dispenser in a simple and catchy way. The user is given his or her own personal and fresh portion of towel. The positive message is immediately apparent and gives the viewer a good all-round feeling of cleanliness“, this was the unanimous opinion of the expert jury on Janusz Wróbel’s motif, which was awarded a prize of 2.000 Euro.

The second place award, worth 1.000 Euro, goes to Moritz Röder, whose “CWS-boco Hygiene Center“ symbolically visualises the technical processes taking place on the inside of a CWS towel dispenser. Depicted are several employees, who are washing the cotton towel and thus ensuring ideal hygiene when drying hands.

500 Euro are being awarded to the third place winner, Riccardo Soloperto. The motif shows a handshake between two people plus the text “Now you can“, ironically taking off on US President Barack Obama’s campaign slogan. What was graphically implemented was the message that only freshly washed and thoroughly dried hands ensure that no dangerous or harmful bacteria are transmitted when shaking hands. A crucial factor in the jury’s positive rating of the motif.

Members of the jury were Frank Radinic, Head of Corporate Marketing & Communications at CWS-boco International, Jens Pattberg, Managing Director of the agency brains4design, as well as Detlev Knecht, Deputy Chief Editor of the trade magazine IKZ Haustechnik. The criteria used to evaluate and rate the entries included the level of creativity, graphic implementation as well as the thematic reference to the washroom and hand hygiene.
