Haniel Subsidiary Continues on the Road to Success
CWS-boco International Closes the Fiscal Year 2008 with Profitable Growth
Duisburg, 05 May 2009. Once again, CWS-boco International GmbH was able to significantly increase its profitability in the
fiscal year 2008, which ended on 31 December 2008, and set further signals of growth. Sales of this company, specialised in
washroom hygiene products and textile services, rose from 762 million Euro to 779 million Euro. This corresponds to a growth
rate of 3 percent compared with the year 2007. Operational earnings – revised to reflect acquisitions and dispositions as
well as changes in currency exchange rates - increased over-proportionately by 17 percent. CWS-boco thus was able to successfully
defy internationally tense economic trends and reinforced their market position as worldwide leader. The company’s positive
performance can be attributed mainly to the strategic re-orientation, which began in 2006. Among the most important measures
were the merger of sales of the two brands CWS and boco, optimised cost management as well as targeted expansion in new areas
of growth, such as China, Eastern and Northern Europe.

This outstanding performance was rounded out by important product innovations in the fiscal year 2008. Irregardless of the current difficult economic situation, we will continue our course of international expansion, even though we will be confronted with sales losses in central Europe in 2009“.

International Expansion
CWS-boco International is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the German Haniel Group with headquarters in Duisburg and employs around
8000 employees in 18 local subsidiaries in Europe and China. The company’s products include CWS washroom hygiene solutions
with cotton towel, soap and fragrance dispensers as well as industrially launderable workwear and protective clothing by boco.
All services are available for customers in a flexible subscription service programme, including installation and regular
servicing of the dispenser systems as well as professional processing of the textiles and cotton towel rolls. Around the world,

Since 2007, the brands CWS and boco are selling and distributing their products together. The company therewith is satisfying the increased demand placed by many companies and public institutions for complete textile solutions. In addition to reorganisation of the sales and service structure, CWS-boco also further expanded its worldwide presence and made targeted investments in new growth markets. The company is active in China since the end of 2007, and within a short time was able to close contracts with well-known firms and hotels. In order to continue utilising the enormous market potential in China, CWS-boco opened a new high-tech laundry facility in Shanghai in the fourth quarter of 2008. At the beginning of 2009, a further site will be taken into operation in Beijing. CWS-boco is also increasing its commitment in Eastern Europe. The sales team has been expanded considerably to be able to penetrate the market more quickly. In Sweden, the company is considerably expanding its market share in the sector Workwear through the acquisition of five local providers and is now represented countrywide with CWS and boco.
The most important new products in 2008 included the CWS ParadiseLine, the first line of customisable washroom dispensers, as well as the workwear collection boco Freestyle for employees in Industry, Small Trades and Facility Management.
