Creative Competition on the Occasion of World Toilet Day 2009

CWS-boco is seeking the best online videos on hand hygiene

Duisburg, 19 November 2009. The online competition titled “Hands on Hygiene“ is a campaign by CWS-boco on the occasion of World Toilet Day 2009 on 19 November, which takes place each year and alludes to hygienic deficits around the world. CWS-boco, leading supplier of professional washroom hygiene solutions and textile services, wishes to use this competition to draw attention to the importance of regular and thorough hand washing in times of the swine flu pandemic. In addition to vaccination, hand hygiene is an effective protective measure against infectious diseases. As a part of the “Hands on Hygiene“ competition, CWS-boco is seeking the best online clips on the subject of hand hygiene. The videos will be presented on the company’s new CWS Paradise Dry NT Screen – the first towel dispenser with an integrated monitor - in their virtual WebWC.
By awarding prize monies totalling 4.000 Euro, CWS-boco wishes to animate hobby directors to film their own personal videos on hand hygiene. A jury of experts, consisting of Frank Radinic, Head of Corporate Marketing & Communications at CWS-boco International, as well as Detlev Knecht, Deputy Chief Editor of the trade magazine IKZ Haustechnik, and Dr. Klaus-Dieter Zastrow, physician for hygiene and environmental medicine, will select the best three entries. These top three places will be awarded prizes of 2.500 Euro, 1.000 Euro and 500 Euro respectively. The jury will evaluate the videos according to criteria such as creativity, plot and the reference to hand hygiene.

The CWS-boco “Hands on Hygiene“ starts on 19 November 2009, World Toilet Day. Deadline for submitting entries is 31 January 2010. Clips should be submitted in the formats WMV, AVI, MPEG, MOV, MP4 or FLV and not exceed a length of 30 seconds.

All details and terms of participation in the CWS-boco “Hands on Hygiene“ competition can be found on the CWS-boco virtual WebWC website on www.cws-boco.com/video.

Advertising in the washroom: The new CWS ParadiseDry NT Screen

Initiator of the online video competition is CWS-boco International GmbH. As a trendsetter regarding washroom fittings, CWS-boco presents with its CWS Paradise Dry NT the world’s first towel dispenser with an integrated monitor. This means that effective immediately, advertising films, corporate news or any other image or sound services can be brought into the washroom on video. Modern TFT display technology allows brilliant high-resolution images. The integrated loud speakers ensure high sound quality. Use of the dispenser is as hygienic as is currently possible – touchless via sensor function. Depending on the settings, the films do not run until the towel is used, or alternatively before using the towel through a radar-controlled motion detector. Videos or images can be exchanged by a CWS-boco service technician or also the operator of the washroom.

The dispenser is suitable for use as a medium for internal communications, as the ideal complement to Corporate Identity strategies as well as a unique advertising platform. While hands are being dried, the film being shown achieves a high level of perception in the target group, which in turn is being addressed in a gender-specific manner without any significant spreading loss. Advertising can therefore contribute to refinancing the washroom fittings.

Competition background: World Toilet Day 2009

The first World Toilet Day was launched on 19 November 2004 by the World Toilet Organization (WTO), and is taking place this year for the 6th time. The WTO networks international experts from more than 215 member organisations in 57 countries. Since its founding in 2001, the organisation campaigns to improve the situation of sanitary facilities around the world, and to promote the proliferation of hygienically sanitary facilities.

On World Toilet Day 2009, CWS-boco is supporting the German member organisation German Toilet Organization e.V., which this year is realising the project „Klobalisierte Welt“ in cooperation with school children. The goal of this campaign is to provide school children with an awareness of the meaning of hygiene and sanitation. The project’s highlight will be an event on World Toilet Day in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, where the school children will present their various project activities. The event will be preceded by a press conference (Restaurant Tucher, Pariser Platz, Berlin).
