Brockman Hall is an impressive, 110,000 sqft Physics building on the Rice University campus. Construction began in June of 2009 and finished in early January of 2011. This BIM project provides classrooms, research labs and offices for Rice's top students and faculty. CCRD worked with HTS Texas and Haakon to design custom air handling units that stayed within Rice's height requirements.
The final design consisted of two Haakon custom air handling units (87,000 cfm) that were selected for their flexibility and robust design. These units will offer temperature and humidity control and will provide a more comfortable learning environment and more accurate lab testing. In addition, HTS provided one Haakon energy recovery unit with a Semco wheel(93,000 cfm supply/77,000 exhaust), three Daikin Applied Vision air handling units (76,000 cfm total) and 21 fan coil units.
