Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is one of seven Level I trauma centers for children in Canada serving Eastern Ontario, Nunavut, Northern Ontario, and the Outaouais region of Quebec. CHEO provides complex pediatric care, research, and education. CHEO is also a founding member of Kids Health Alliance; a network of partners committed to advancing excellence and expertise in pediatric care – leading to better outcomes and a high-quality, consistent and coordinated approach to health care that is centered around children, youth, and their families.
The scope of the project included replacing one of the two existing twin Haakon Air Handling Units that were installed in 1991. The challenge included staying in the same footprint as the old unit while also increasing the airflow by introducing more efficient fans and motors.
