Fort Polk Army Base in Louisiana recently renovated two of its facilities to alleviate mold problems caused by old equipment. HTS was chosen as the basis of design for the project based on design-build capabilities and was able to equip the two buildings, totaling 225,000 square feet, with a new HVAC system that helped them earn LEED Silver certification.
The buildings were equipped with two Munters DryCool energy recovery ventilation (ERV) units totaling over 15,000 CFM that allowed the air to reach the required 43-degree dew point and achieve an Energy Efficiency Rating above 18.0. Two 15-ton Daikin Rebel rooftop units were also installed on the laundry rooms of the facility, and the system was completed with eight Danfoss VLT drives. HTS was able to overcome challenges on this project to meet stringent design-build requirements set forth by the US Corp of Engineers.
