Job Mandate

The HTS software engineer will be responsible for the developing, testing, maintaining, and implementing of moderate to complex application(s), and will liaise with other developers, business analysts, end users, and the director, software projects regarding the development and implementation of various applications utilizing modern agile tools and techniques. Some overtime may be required in this position. Reliable access to personal transportation is a requirement.

Job Details

Major Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Develops and unit tests moderate to complex programs/modules according to specific business and design requirements in an efficient and accurate manner in order to meet deadlines and exceed customer expectations.
  • Participates in the development of detailed system/design documents to meet the development methodology and to facilitate knowledge transfer as well as increasing application maintainability.
  • Participates in application design sessions and code reviews/walkthroughs to ensure accuracy toward business requirements and development guidelines and to increase technical skills through knowledge transfer. Keeps abreast of development technologies, both current and future.
  • Provides support and enhancements to existing production applications in a timely and accurate manner to minimize outage time and increase the effectiveness of the business.
  • Provide support and maintenance of existing applications as required.
  • Participate in special projects as directed by the software development lead.
  • Attend all meetings for special projects as required
  • Can interface with business to determine the application needs.

Minimum Required Technical Skills / Qualifications

Knowledge, Education, Training

  • Computer Science or computer engineering degree or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years

Technical Skills

  • Understands the design considerations in multiuser and distributed systems and the trade-offs involved.
  • Software development uses Object Oriented (OO) principles and techniques.
  • Can enhance and develop OO frameworks.
  • Identified situations that require architectural changes and recommend architecture changes.
  • Understands OO design patterns and applies them when appropriate for readability, maintainability, extendibility, and scalability.
  • Can develop abstract OO models that address the business needs.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of Dynamic language (e.g. Smalltalk, Lisp, Python, Ruby) and OO Programming experience
  • Experience in or understanding of an Agile environment would be an asset
