Classroom cleanup: a filter success story

Our Fort Worth team recently completed a few indoor air quality-centered projects with Birdville ISD in north Texas. Read more below about how they delivered real success.

Not cool enough for school

v8-openV8 OpenImagine yourself back in high school, taking a chemistry test on a balmy April afternoon in Texas. You start to notice you’re sweating a little bit and it’s not from nerves – it’s because the A/C seems relatively non-existent. Not really an optimum learning environment is it?

This situation plagued a Birdville ISD high school. A new wing of the school had lots of glass windows (i.e. all-day sun exposure) and occupants started to notice it was becoming increasingly uncomfortable throughout the day. The problem turned out to be that the units were not keeping up with the capacity needed for the space.

HTS stepped in and provided a solution to fit the units with Dynamic V8 filters. These filters are designed to offer “near zero” air pressure drop for up to MERV 15 filter requirements, thus reducing fan/motor consumption and even lower cooling capacity requirements by up to 10%. With the filters installed, the amount of outdoor air needed to cool the school’s wing was drastically reduced. This meant less tonnage was needed to treat the incoming outdoor air, resulting in the units being able to properly cool the space once again.

What’s that smell?

HTS helped out another school in Birdville ISD that was dealing with a persistent moldy odor in a classroom that had suffered a leak. Even with the water damage taken care of, the smell lingered, leaving the room unfit to teach classes in.

Dynamic enters again as the savior. Dynamic filters were installed, along with cold-plasma IAQ solutions from GPS, to rid the room of the odor. Working in unison, these two products cleaned the air efficiently, ridding the room of the smell completely, and quickly restored the classroom to a usable space.

Both schools were sold not only on Dynamic’s proven performance with solving each of their problems, but also because of its decreased maintenance. Maintenance intervals with Dynamic are 1 year to clean, 7 years to replace, as compared to the incessant monthly maintenance needed for most common filters.

These are just a few of the success stories we’ve facilitated with Dynamic filters. Learn more about the products here and contact your local HTS representative today to see how we can implement them into your building.
