Harvard’s new Science and Engineering Complex is a 500,000 square foot state-of-the-art complex featuring classrooms, active learning labs, a maker space, faculty labs, community space, and a café. Harvard chose HTS New England as the basis of design to assist with creating the most sustainable facility possible, with individual zone control and highly efficient equipment for lab spaces, which use ten times more energy than an office or classroom. We provided nine Haakon Custom AHUs, totaling 350,000 CFM, which services the entire building from the basement to maximize occupant capacity. This created some interesting installation requirements and tight rigging constraints, but with HTS’s help in coordination, everything went smoothly.
