- Lincoln Property Company Building Owner
- TD Industries Mechanical Contractor
Built in 1982, Thanksgiving Tower in Dallas, Texas is home to 50 stories of office buildings and holds the title of the 8th tallest building in Dallas. In 2013 the 1,410,000 square foot tower underwent a $16 million renovation which included installing a new HVAC system. Building owner Lincoln Property Company's primary goals for the building's HVAC were ensuring a fast turnaround to meet deadlines and keeping tenant disruptions from equipment noise to a minimum. HTS worked with TD Industries to equip the building with 96 Daikin Vision custom air handling units.
Daikin was able to provide units with a custom width and height in order to fit the existing dimensions of the space. About 20 percent of the AHUs needed to be disassembled on the jobsite and reassembled to fit equipment in the mechanical rooms, which Daikin was also able to accommodate. This allowed for easy instillation in existing duct locations, and delivery accommodations from Daikin allowed the AHUs and fan assemblies to be taken separately up elevators in the building without being damaged.
Installation was staged over a several month period and the units were installed with all tenants still in the building without generating a single complaint from tenants. The patented splice collar design of the AHUs allowed for lower installation time and costs compared to units that require gaskets between each section. Two units were installed on each floor of the building to provide an energy efficient system that meets tight space requirements and keeps the entire building comfortable while reducing maintenance costs and making almost no noise.
