Bristol-Myers Squibb’s $750 million biologics manufacturing facility in Devens, Massachusetts is located on an 89-acre site about 45 miles west of Boston, a site chosen by the company in 2006. The LEED-certified facility is a large-scale, multi-product bulk facility. The first phase of the project includes four main buildings that include a BioPharma manufacturing facility, a central utility building, an administrative/quality control building, and a warehouse/storage structure. Additionally, a wastewater pre-treatment plant is located there. The facility supports the production of ORENCIA® (abatacept), which is the company’s biologic therapy for rheumatoid arthritis, as well as other biologic compounds.
The facility has a total of 16 Haakon aluminum custom air-handling units ranging in size from 5,000 to 52,000 CFM supplied by HTS New England. The units all have wipe-down cleanable construction.
HTS New England worked closely with the architect and engineer Fluor and general contractor Parsons/Skanska on this project.
