Description

HTS was chosen as basis of design for the Energy Crossing II building, a new 8-story, 340,000 square-foot office midrise in Houston.

The engineer, Blum Consulting, chose to layout Daikin SWP indoor self-contained water-cooled package units because of the low sound power levels. The units also have the most capacity flexibility in the unit size ranges the project required. Competitor layouts suggested using a higher quantity of units due to their size limitation that the Daikin units were not constrained by. HTS’ plan saved the owner first cost, while also allowing for more available square-footage for tenant leasing, thus increasing their potential profit per floor.

HTS provided a complete HVAC package for the building, which is set to open in the summer of 2014. Eight Daikin SWP Indoor Self-Contained Water-Cooled VAV package units totaling 328,500 CFM and 884.5 tons were installed. For maximum efficiency, a 32,000 CFM SEMCO energy recovery unit was also provided due to its performance and flexible foot print capabilities.

Working with the contractor, Brandt Engineering, HTS was also able to provide an array of airside products. Brandt chose the HTS Airside Products Group because it allowed them to have a single point of contact for the majority of their big ticket mechanical items. Supplied were: Krueger VAV boxes and GRDs, Kinetics sound attenuators, Markel cabinet heaters, Air Balance fire and smoke dampers and Twin City Fans exhaust and stairwell pressurization.
