In preparation for the New Carnival Magic cruise ship set to dock out of Galveston during the fall of 2011, the Port of Galveston needed to double the capacity of their existing cruise terminal. HTS Texas worked with Mesa Mechanical on the design and implementation of 350 tons of cooling capacity that was added to accommodate the new ship.
Ultimately, HTS supplied two 50-Ton and three 63-Ton McQuay Maverick II rooftop units with coastal coatings, one 24,000 cfm McQuay semi-custom Vision air handling unit and one 60-Ton McQuay RCS condensing unit. McQuay’s Maverick rooftop units are an ideal fit for the Galveston port because they have easy access to the mechanical components which promotes routine maintenance and they have a two-circuit refrigerant design for high reliability.
