HTS Texas, one of the largest independent commercial HVAC manufacturers’ representatives in North America and Direct Expansion Solutions (DXS), a division of HTS Engineering Ltd. that specializes in variable refrigerant volume (VRV) implementation and design, provided New Horizons Hospitality with energy-efficient HVAC equipment for the company’s new Hilton Garden Inn property located in Northwest Houston at Highway 290 and West Little York.
The U.S. Green Building Council LEED project is being conducted in tandem with project partners, Mitchell Carlson Stone, Inc., TGK + Associates, EBCO General Contractor, LTD and Comfort Systems USA. The collective team was chosen for their proven abilities to help New Horizons Hospitality achieve their desired LEED Gold rating for the hotel.
In an effort to reduce sound and provide a cost-effective, energy-efficient solution, HTS Texas, DXS and their partners provided the 172-room hotel, including 6,000 square feet of banquet space, with an ASHRAE Standard 15- compliant solution including 208 tons of Daikin-McQuay VRV heat pump and heat recovery equipment, which was the basis for design, and 50 tons of Daikin-McQuay MPS rooftop units with air-to-air enthalpy wheels for energy recovery. Also, a Daikin Intelligent Touch Controller provides central monitoring and controls for the building’s VRV equipment and rooftop ventilation units.
From Houston to San Antonio and Austin, Texas to Wichita, Kansas, HTS Texas and DXS have supplied water- and air-cooled chiller systems, air-handling units, fan coil units, VRV, specialty dehumidifying equipment, and other large-scale HVAC systems to provide hotels energy savings with a focus on using noise management control systems for optimal guest experience.
“The hospitality industry continues to look for reliable, eco-friendly cooling solutions when selecting required large-scale HVAC equipment to meet environmental standards,” said Joel Hill, Daikin Product Specialist, DXS. “DXS is proud to team with HTS Texas and our partners to provide New Horizons Hospitality and the Hilton Garden Inn with a comfortable interior climate for their valued guests, while increasing savings and energy efficiencies for the property.”
“We continue to see a trend among companies seeking hotel properties with the highest-possible environmental business and sustainability practices,” said Aly Valiani, vice president of New Horizons Hospitality. “Certainly the efficiency of our new hotel’s cooling system will play an important role in helping us achieve this goal.”
