The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) manages the water supply and environment of the lower Colorado River basin in Texas, as well as provides several other public and community services. Its coal plant, located in La Grange, TX, was dealing with failing HVAC equipment due to a tough, corrosive environment.
HTS was chosen to provide custom air handling equipment to replace the old units. The client needed a solution that would hold up to the environment of the plant, while also needing to be a custom fit and sustain high flexibility to handle superior temperature and humidity control.
HTS supplied two Daikin Applied Vision air handling units that totaled 36,000 CFM. These units are customizable, so they were able to fit in the restricted space, plus they are extremely durable. Also installed were two Daikin Applied condensing units with corrosion protection and high staging flexibility, totaling 90 tons. HTS overcame all of the challenges of the project and left the owner with a long-lasting, high-efficiency system that is well-suited for the harsh environment.
