Medical Centre 2 at The Boardwalk required an HVAC solution that met healthcare standards while aligning with the owner’s goal of reducing the building’s carbon footprint. Haakon Custom Air Handling Units and DOAS units were selected as they are the go-to brand for healthcare applications, known for their quality, reliability, compliance with CSA Z317 healthcare code, and relative affordability in the market.
To support an electric, lower-carbon heating strategy, Daikin’s water source VRF system was chosen to serve the air handling and DOAS units. For space heating and cooling throughout the building, Daikin water source heat pumps were selected based on their flexibility, high efficiency, and lower noise levels compared to most other brands.
Most of the heating in this building is now delivered via heat pumps, which significantly reduces overall carbon emissions and energy consumption.
