After opening in 1865, Parliament Hill’s West Block underwent rehabilitation. This building was given the Classified designation in 1987 from the Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office (FHBRO). West Block now has a 60,000-square-foot Visitor Welcome Centre, 115,000 square feet of new building space, and a glazed roof covering the exterior courtyard to help with environmental control.
