Due to increasing enrollment, the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo needed to be expanded. The result was a 40,000-square-foot, $12.4 million addition. HTS Ontario supplied HVAC equipment for the expansion, which includes a lecture theatre seating 125 and a museum of vision science. Additionally, the expanded building includes student group study rooms and quiet study rooms. More space also was allotted for the laser surgery center at the school.
The optometry school provides the only English language optometric training in Canada, and offers an accredited, four-year program. The school also has a clinic that provides health services to the public while giving students real practical experience.
HTS supplied the following equipment:
- Haakon Custom Air Handling Units
- McQuay Custom Air Handling Units
- Dri-Steem Humidification
- Reflux Condensing Units
- Sigma Hot Water Radiation
