The Halton District School Board undertook a pre-qualification process to select a couple of BAS suppliers that would enable them to:

- Standardize on an open-source head-end operating software platform to allow monitoring and control for all their schools.
- Ensure controls at the school level were standardized using common global controllers while allowing for different field level controller vendors.
- Ensure control for similar systems across different schools would be designed, programmed, and implemented identically regardless of vendor.
In this discussion, we will explore the process the Halton District School board undertook and the results of the process in terms of what they now have.
