Durcon’s laboratory surface manufacturing facility in Taylor, TX required renovations to its manufacturing floor that lacked air conditioning and heating. The construction of the facility left no room for traditional mechanical equipment on the manufacturing floor or on the roof. HTS was chosen as the basis of design for this design-build project and was tasked with providing HVAC equipment that would not interfere with the existing work area.
The facility was provided with two 400 ton Daikin Air Cooled AWS chillers, and three Johnson air rotation units ranging from 25,000 to 34,000 CFM to provide the floor with chilled water and gas heat. HTS worked with Lochridge Priest to develop a solution that could stay within the set budget for the project, as well as accommodate the short construction window.
