The First Baptist Church is a staple of downtown San Antonio. This historic church has been serving the community for 153 years. Undergoing renovations on its west end, HTS was chosen as the basis of design for the project.
A strong relationship and proven success with the mechanical contractor, Gillette Air Conditioning, landed HTS its BOD. The church was in need of a more efficient chiller and HTS found the solution with four Daikin air-cooled scroll chillers. At 130 tons, these chillers are cost-effective and energy-efficient, while still providing a quiet environment needed for church services. The energy efficiency allowed these units to earn rebates of $150 per ton, totaling over $75,000.The system also included 120- and 127-ton Daikin Vision and Skyline Air Handling Units.
HTS also had to work with Gillette to overcome challenges with installation, including street closures and limited access due to the building’s downtown location.
